Contrary to insinuations in some quarters, especially social media platforms, the Kwara State Government on Thursday clarified that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq bore no grudge against his late Chief of Staff, Aminu Adisa Logun.

Logun, an engineer and industrialist, died on Tuesday evening in Ilorin as a result of COVID-19 complications and was interred in line with Islamic injunctions in his private residence in Ilorin on Wednesday.

The Commissioner for Communications, Mrs Adenike Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, who spoke exclusively to The Herald said the report that the Governor last had physical interaction with the late Chief of Staff in April was misconstrued.

She pointed out that the safety protocols of coronavirus pandemic restricted frequent physical contact with people as part of efforts to stem the tide of the global deadly virus.

The commissioner explained further that the state Governor has always been meeting members of his cabinet via virtual platforms all geared towards flattening the curve of the transmission of the disease in the state.

Afolabi-Oshatimehin said the fact that the Governor could not have physical interaction with the late Chief of Staff for 93 days should not be misinterpreted to mean that he was avoiding Adisa Logun.

She stated that the Governor held no animosity whatsoever against any of his appointees and members of the public as being speculated.

The commissioner added that the state government has also been employing other platforms to disseminate information in order to keep the state running.

“Our Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is a very good Governor and has a very good relationship with every member of the cabinet. He does not have anything against the late Chief of Staff (Aminu Adisa Logun).

“I’m sure if the late Chief of Staff was here, he would also say same. And he (Governor) has never shown or said he had any issue or whatsoever with anybody or members of the cabinet.

“There was never a time he was avoiding the Chief of Staff. We all know what the situation is in the world. There is COVID-19, and we have all been advised to keep a distance. In fact, all our meetings have been virtual because the state just needs to run.

“So, our Governor has never avoided anyone or any member of the cabinet. In fact, even the public, he has never avoided anyone. But if it is to pass information, we look for another means of disseminating such to ourselves, and the state has been working in spite of the fact that we have the evil pandemic.

“So, there are no issues. It is not as a result of maybe he was avoiding him or anything. No. Not at all. They had a good relationship till he (Logun) left us. The social media post was just trying to misconstrue the fact”, Afolabi-Oshatimehin said.
