The Chairman, House Committee on Works and the representative of Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Akin Alabi has reiterated federal government’s commitment towards ensuring that federal roads across the nation particularly Oyo state are safe, durable and efficient for all users.
He said good road infrastructure plays vital roles in the economic and social development of Oyo state.
He made the assertions at the Oyo State Federal Roads Stakeholders’ Engagement in Ibadan, themed: “Enhancing Federal Roads in Oyo State: Challenges and Sustainable Solutions.
theheraldnews.ng reports that stakeholders at the engagement decried the slow phase of works on some federal roads in the state and appealed to the federal ministry of works and the contractors handling ongoing projects in the state to expedite action so that the projects are completed without wasting more time.
Alabi noted that roads are the lifelines of commerce, trade, and daily life, saying condition of federal roads in Oyo state remains a pressing concern that requires immediate and collective action.
The event was attended by Hon. Olamiju Alao-Akala (Ogbomoso North/ Ogbomoso South/ Oriire); the Chairman, House Committee on Federal Road Maintainance Agency (FERMA), Hon. Remi Oseni (Ido/ Ibarapa East), Hon. Lateef Olaide Mohammed (Irepo/Orelope/ Olorunsogo) and the Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin who was represented by the Maye Olubadan, Chief Lekan Alabi.
Others are contactors, community leaders, security agencies and other stakeholders
Alabi stated that the gathering was not just about highlighting challenges but proffering solutions.
According to him, “It is about bringing together the voices that matter like government officials, engineers, transporters, business owners, and the everyday road users, to discuss, deliberate, and chart a clear course toward improving our road network.”
He, however, urged all Nigerians particularly people in the state to collaborate towards a sustainable framework that will ensure all Federal roads in Oyo are safe, durable, efficient for all users.
