KWSG to partner agencies on improve healthcare delivery

Kwara State Government has re-affirmed its commitment to work with relevant agency that has plan to improve healthcare delivery in the state.
The state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Usman Kolo Rifun stated this yesterday at the fifth quarterly meeting of the steering committee on Saving One Million Lives Programme for Results(SOML P for R) held at the state Ministry of Health.
Usman explained that the present administration is working immensely in making healthcare delivery effective, efficient, available and affordable for Kwarans.
The Commissioner commended the SOML P for R as initiative put in place by the Federal Government to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
According to him, the programme was aimed at saving the lives of women and children in order to reduce infant and maternal mortality rate to the barest minimum.
Speaking on improvement of maternal and child health outcomes, the SOML P for R programme Manager, Dr. Omar Ibrahim explained that the programme is in 6 indicators which is the main objectives of SOML programme which were immunization, the elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDs malaria control, improving child nutrition, maternal and child health, childhood essential medicines and increased treatment of important childhood diseases.
Omar explained that the programme was aimed at to improving the routine immunization, stressing further that that the initiative made sure that the vaccine got to where it was needed and the children also got vaccinated.
He stated that the organization also aimed to improve healthcare delivery in all 193 health centres operating by SOML P for R in the state.
Continuous improvement in the quest to improve healthcare delivery especially in primary healthcare level is our goal he says.
Omar added that the organisation also strives hard in the distribution of family planning consumables, so as to reduce mortality rate through child spacing.
He disclosed further that the programme has seriously advocated that all primary Health Cares should come under one roof to remove bureaucracy which often hinders effectiveness of the system.
The programme manager stressed that this is necessary to coordinate the primary health cares by one single body.
He however urged kwarans to key into this program by bringing out their children for immunization and as well encouraging them to sleep under insecticide treated net.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Comrade Olaitan Adefila applauded Saving One Million Lives Programme for making health care delivery accessible in Kwara State.
He also emphasised the importance of accurate data in health sector.
In her contribution, Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Abimbola Folorunso commended the initiative for improving maternal and child health in the state.
Also in his remarks, the Chairman of Awareness Initiative for Good Living working on family planning in the state, Alhaji Ajibola Wahab equally appreciated the initiative for improving the contraceptive prevalence rate in the state.
